Microsoft officially unveils the new Windows 8.1 Update

After long rumors and leaks, Mirosoft has finally today unveilied its new Windows 8.1 Updtae 1 along with its new Windows Phone 8.1 Operating System at its Build Developer Conference 2014. As we seen in previous leaked builds, the new Windows 8.1 Update focuses much on improving the Windows Experience for those who are using it with a keyboard and a mouse. Leaked Images of Nokia Lumia 929 for Verizon

After getting leaked in a video, once again the unannounced Nokia Lumia 929 has been spotted, but this time in the best look.  WPCentral  has recently shared some new images of Nokia Lumia 929 with a list of its specifications which includes a 5-inch Full HD AMOLED Display. We are expecting that Nokia Lumia 929 will make its debut on Verizon and from these new leaked images we can say that it will look very similar to the existing Lumia 928 (there is also only a number difference between the model numbers). Aluminum frame with a polycarbonate back panel and bigger display screen will be the main visual changes in Lumia 929. Nokia Lumia 929 will be powered with 2.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor running along with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of Internal Storage. Bring back the old Start Menu in Windows 8.1

Back in September 2012, Developer Thinix released Retro UI Pro App for Windows 8 users, which was the first company to provide the old Windows 7 like Start Menu in Windows 8. Since then, the developer company  Thinix has released several updates for its program, but this week the company has released a major update to its RetroUI Pro App. The latest version 4.0 offers full compatibility with the recently launched Windows 8.1 Operating System. It also comes with some of the new features and many bug fixes. Including an update to it’s multi-user profile technology. Users who have downloaded and installed the previous version of RetroUI will have to uninstall it first before installing the latest Retro UI Pro 4.0. During a private session at Build 2013 Annual Developer Conference, Microsoft has revealed the existence of Official Facebook and Flipboard application on 8-inch Acer device. And finally few minutes ago, Steve Ballmer announced both these applications will be coming in Windows 8.1. Microsoft’s CEO, Steve Ballmer has said that the Facebook has long focused on connecting people and with the release of new Windows 8 app, it will be “an exciting way to enhance that vision.” But he doesn’t revealed any exact release date, when the Facebook App will be made available on Windows Store. While on the other hand, Flipboard released some information regarding it’s upcoming Windows 8 app in a blog post. Giant Surface 2 tablet in London is 17 feet tall and 27 feet wide

Microsoft has recently placed a giant Surface 2 tablet in London. This Giant Surface 2 tablet is 17 feet tall and 27 feet wide and the company has provided more interesting information regarding this publicity stunt. According to recently released Press Release, Microsoft says that this Giant Surface 2 tablet which is placed in Trafalgar Squar, London was created by a company known as Helix, which is well known for creating sets for TV shows and movies. The Giant Surface 2 has taken 22 team mebors and 13 days to complete. “To create a working Surface at this scale is an extraordinary undertaking” said event producer Boz Temple-Morris ”very few people could do it. Download Internet Explorer 11 reliability patch for Windows 8.1

Microsoft has today released a new patch for Windows 8.1, Windows RT 8.1 and Windows Server 2012 R2 users. No not for the Operating System, it is for Internet Explorer 11 which is pre-installed in these version of Windows. Microsoft says that this new patch is supposed to improve “the reliability of Internet Explorer 11.” Microsoft support page says that this file is available from Windows Updates section, but it is also available as manual download for 32-bit and 64-bit version of Windows 8.1, along with another patch which is made for Windows Server 2012 R2. Instagram app for Windows Phone coming in weeks

At today’s  Nokia World Event   in Abu Dabhi, Instagram CEO Kevin Systrom has confirmed that the official client will be available for Windows Phone users very shortly. “Our ultimate goal is to bring Instagram to everyone who wants to use it,” he adds ”We’re looking forward to watching the Windows Phone community use Instagram to capture and share beautiful moments in the coming weeks.” The company hasn’t provided any more details regarding the app features. Along with Instagram, Nokia also announced that the official Vine app will be also available for Windows Phone users. But they  haven’t provided any specific release date for that. Windows 8 Desktop Operating System Market Share Jumps 2 Percent

New statistics have been released this month by Net Applications for the adoption of Microsoft’s latest Windows 8 operating system which has now taken a leap to 7.41 percent of the market share gaining 2.01 percent. Microsoft will also be pleased to learn that their age old Windows XP operating system has this month dropped 3.53 percentage points from 37.19 percent to 33.66 percent. Its thought that the jump of Microsoft’s latest Windows 8 operating system in June was contributed to the releasing its free preview of Windows 8.1. The new and highly anticipated release of the Windows 8.1 update will be arriving on October 17th as a digital download and October 18th is expected to be the full retail release date. Microsoft Exchange Online Mailboxes Increased To 50GB

Microsoft has this week announced they are increasing the storage allocation of their Microsoft Exchange Online mailboxes doubling the original 25GB storage to a massive 50GB. Microsoft says the move is “part of our promise to continuously deliver value to our Office 365 customers.” but the new 50Gb limit also blasts past their biggest competitor Google who currently offers 30GB of storage. Earlier in the week Microsoft also announced that they have now increased the size allocation of their SkyDrive Pro cloud storage service. The default SkyDrive Pro storage space in Office 365 is now 25GB for both new and existing customers. With the possibility of increasing that even further with SkyDrive Pro storage options available for 50GB and 100GB. Microsoft has today announced that the previous price cuts it had offered customers on its struggling line of Surface RT and Surface tablet are now here to stay and have been made permanent. The price reductions are across the entire range of Surface devices and accessories and there is now $100 of the Microsoft Surface Pro and $40 off the Surface Touch Covers. Microsoft explains “The customer response to recent Surface pricing and keyboard-cover promotions has been exciting to see, and we are proud to begin rollout of Surface Pro, Touch Cover and Surface RT bundles at even more affordable prices starting August 29,” - $100 (U.S.) off Surface Pro (including the 256 GB SKU). Following on from the unveiling yesterday that Microsoft had finished creating and tweaking their new Windows 8.1 software and have now made it ready for release for consumers on October 18th 2013. The final Windows 8.1 RTM update file leaked on to file sharing websites offering the final RTM version of Windows 8.1 available for download. The current copy available in a localised Chinese version, but English variants are also being prepared, says the Verge website.
