Windows 10 Leaked Screenshots Shows 3D Live Tiles and New UI Update

Image
While we are just a day away from Microsoft Build 2015 Keynote, it seems like Microsoft has plenty of features to show us. According to the recently leaked screenshots of Windows 10 OS, we are expecting to see a new blurry glass effect in the OS. This glass effect seems to be only present in the Start Menu. It looks cool, but disappears when you switch full-screen mode. Along with that, we are also seeing new 3D Live tiles in the start menu. It appears like a 3D flip and is better than the previous version. Microsoft has also updated the UI for Cortana. It is now more closely integrated into the Start Menu. We are expecting to see new Windows 10 Build tomorrow at the BUILD 2015 developers conference. So, stay tuned for more updates.

Microsoft releases Windows 10 technical preview for selected Lumia smartphones

Image
As promised, late last night Microsoft released the preview of Windows 10 for phones to public. The company is seeding out the update via its Windows Insider app to select handsets. To download the new technical preview, you’ll first have to sign up for the Windows Insider preview program. Windows 10 for phones will support all Lumia handsets running Windows Phone 8 or above. For now, however, the software update is only compatible with select Lumia handsets. The handsets that can snag the update are Lumia 630, Lumia 635, Lumia 636, Lumia 638, Lumia 730, and Lumia 830. The company is blaming something called “partition stitching” for the delay of the rollout to other handsets. The said feature allows the company to dynamically adjust the storage space hogged by the operating system, and some phones have “very tight OS partitions.” Much like its desktop counterpart, Windows 10 for phones also doesn’t pack in all the features. For instance, Messaging on dual-SIM support ha

The invite doesn’t quite give away what the company has in store for the event. The only thing mentioned in the invite is the tagline, “Come along for the ride,” alongside an image of hot air balloon. Recent reports however suggest that the company could take the wraps off Lumia 1330, the successor to last year’s 6-inch Nokia Lumia 1320. From what we’ve heard so far, the Lumia 1330 features a 5.7-inch HD display, a 14-megapixel rear camera and 32GB internal storage. Additionally, it is also believed to include a 5-megapixel selfie camera, a quad-core processor, Adreno 305 GPU and 1GB of RAM. Last year, Nokia had launched its Nokia X lineup of handsets. The phone ran on a forked version of Android and didn’t include Google Mobile Services. But later in the same year, Microsoft ditched the project. Microsoft has also launched a number of affordable handsets including the affordable Lumia 435 in the past couple of weeks, so it won’t be surprising if the company has plans to ad

Image
New screenshots from recent internal builds of Windows 10 have revealed that the Settings app has received a huge make over, along with the title bar which now has a dedicated full screen button. The screenshots also reveal that elements within the Control Panel are slowly going away, with features being stripped in place of messages which tell users to use the new Settings app. From the screenshots, it's clear that Microsoft has started with the user-interface updates, something that we claimed would begin to happen this month. WinBeta understands that a lot more than just the Settings app within Windows 10 is set to get a face lift, including File Explorer which was mentioned by Gabe Aul recently. The fact that elements within the Control Panel are being removed with messages telling users to use the Settings app may mean that Microsoft is planning to remove the Control Panel completely.
