NVIDIA Tegra X1 is company’s new ‘superchip’
At CES 2015 today, Nvidia CEO Jen-Hsun Huang unveiled its latest mobile superchip, the Tegra X1. Huang says that it is unique of its kind and is the first mobile “superchip. It is packed with 256-core Maxwell GPU and 8-core 64-bit CPU. It has the ability to record 4K video at 60 Hz. Huang is much excited about this new superchip. The Tegra X1 has been built on the top of the Maxwell architecture, which is fast, but is also energy-efficient. The interesting thing about this chip is that it is the first mobile chip which has exceeded 1 teraflop of throughput. At the Press Event, Huang demonstrated the capabilities of Tegra X1 in a real-time demo of Unreal Tournament. The company says that not only Tegra X1 will be best for mobile devices, it will also power the all new NVIDIA Drive CX which is a “digital cockpit computer,” according to the company.
