Lenovo launches cheapest 4G phone A6000 at Rs 6,999

After its global announcement at CES, Lenovo has launched the A6000 in India for Rs.6,999. This makes it the cheapest 4G enabled smartphone in India. Interestingly, it also becomes the cheapest smartphone in India with a 64-bit capable chipset. The phone will be exclusively available on Flipkart, which makes it the third device Lenovo has launched on the online retailer. Previously, the company launched the Vibe X2 and the Vibe Z2 pro. Consumers will need to register for the sale of the phone. This is similar to how Xiaomi conducts its flash sales on Flipkart. Registrations will start at 6PM today and end on 6PM on January 27. The phone will go on sale on January 28 at 2PM on Flipkart. Lenovo and Flipkart have not revealed the number of units that will be available initially. Lenovo claims that it is the fastest it has launched a product in India after a global announcement. The A6000 supports both FDD and TDD LTE bands in India. This includes band 3 and band 40. It is powered by the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 64-bit quad-core processor clocked at 1.2GHz. This makes the A6000, the first smartphone to be powered by this chipset in India. In addition, the phone has 1GB RAM, 8GB of internal storage with support for a microSD card slot supporting up to 32GB of internal storage. It has a 5-inch 720p display. Lenovo uses an IPS panel and adds stereo speakers in the mix with Dolby technology.

On the back, there's a 8-megapixel camera (Sony CMOS sensor) and a 2,300mAh battery. The front has a 2-megapixel camera. It is also a dual-SIM smartphone. At 8.2mm and 141 grams, it is also a slim phone, which does not weigh a lot. The phone runs on Android 4.4 KitKat with Lenovo's Vibe 2.0 UI. While the processor has support for 64-bit applications, it will not support them out of the box as Android KitKat does not support 64-bit apps. Support for 64-bit apps will come when the phone is updated to Android 5.0 Lollipop. "The A6000 is the perfect choice for the youth/millennials who want a trendy phone loaded with future proof features and yet not being heavy on the pocket," said Sudhin Mathur, Director, smartphones, Lenovo India.
