Moto X 2014
Until the launch of Nexus 6, Moto X 2014 was most probably holding the crown for the best smartphone for sale this year. But now, the crown seems to be in danger by the launch of Google Nexus 6. So get ready to find out the best smartphone out of the two.
Nexus 6 is similar to Moto X 2014. It is so due to the fact the Nexus 6 is manufactured by Motorola itself, so the company didn’t completely go back to the drawing board for the Nexus 6. But it doesn’t mean Nexus 6 is a ditto of Moto X 2014, it can be rightly called a bigger and more powerful brother of Moto X as it has a larger screen. So, let’s find out the differences between the two smartphones.

 Screen and Design

The Moto X holds a 5.2-inch full HD AMOLED display with a pixel density of 424ppi. The display holds a Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection on top, while the Nexus 6 has a bigger 5.96-inch full HD AMOLED display with a pixel density of 493ppi and it also has a Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection on the screen.
Talking about the design, both the devices look similar with the edges wrapped up in metal that act as device’s antenna. The rear is curved and is good to hold. The Moto X has a Motorola logo Dimple that makes it more comfortable in hand. The design of both the handsets is gorgeous, which can be enhanced in Moto X by use of different coloured back options available. The only difference you can point out in the design of the two handsets is the Nexus branding logo.

Hardware

Processor and RAM
The Moto X 2014 has a Snapdragon 801 quad-core processor clocked at 2.5GHz while the Nexus 6 holds the same processor but clocked at 2.7GHz. Also Nexus 6 has more amount of RAM i.e. 3 GB than the Moto X 2014 which has 2 GB of RAM. So, the app loading time will be certainly less in Nexus 6 along with having more apps running in background and not interfering the overall performance of the device.
Camera
Both of these devices have a 13 MP camera rear facing camera and can shoot videos up to 4128x3096px resolution. The Nexus 6 has an optical image stabilization which the Moto X 2014 doesn’t have. While rest of the other camera features are common in both which include dual recording, geo-tagging, touch focus, face detection, panorama and HDR. But the Nexus 6 has a HDR + mode which can make even more colours to pop up in the images while the Moto X 2014 holds a normal HDR mode.
Internal Memory and GPU
The Moto X comes up in 16 GB and 32 GB variants while the Nexus 6 has an even larger internal memory of 64 GB but if you want you can get a 32 GB model, which is also available.
Moto X 2014 has an Adreno 330 GPU while the Nexus 6 has an Adreno 420 GPU, which means the gaming experience on the Nexus 6 will is better than the Moto X 2014.

Extras

In the battery department there’s a huge difference with the Moto X 2014 offering a 2300mAh battery which is much below the battery of Nexus 6 which is of 3220mAh. So, the Nexus 6 is for those people who care more about power than balance. Also in the Nexus 6 users can charge the battery with a wireless charging plate, which cannot be done the Moto X 2014. Nexus 6 again leads the line with having dual-front speakers which the Moto X doesn’t have.
As we know, both of these handsets run on stock Android versions. Currently nexus 6 runs on Android 5.0 Lollipop while the Moto X 2014 runs on Android 4.4.4 KitKat; however it will be upgraded to Lollipop soon. Also the Nexus 6 will get quicker updates than the Moto X 2014.
Moto X 2014 has the capability to take voice commands at any moment while the Nexus 6 buyers don’t get the dedicated natural processing core that allows that capability. A thing also worth to be noted is that Nexus 6 will include a turbo charger that allows it to get 6 hours of use with 15 minutes of charging. The Turbo Charger is a separate accessory for Moto X 2014 buyers.

Pricing

The Google Nexus 6 will launch in India at the end of the year with a price tag of Rs. 42,999 while the Moto X 2014 is exclusively available on Flipkart at a price of Rs. 31,999 for 16 GB version. So, do you consider the difference of Rs. 11,000 to be worthy in buying a Nexus 6 smartphone?
