Amazon planning to launch a new set-top box in pre-holidays
The popular online retailer, Amazon is reportedly working on a new set-top box with its own streaming device. According to recent reports by the Wall Street Journal, Amazon will release its new video streaming set-top box this holiday season.With the launch of this new set-top box, Amazon will be competing with other devices like, Roku, Chromecast, Google TV, and Apple TV. Amazon’s set-top box will allow consumers to run apps from different sources and they can also even integrate it with Amazon’s Instant video streaming service.
According to WSJ, Amazon has been discussing various media app developers including cable TV providers for the partnership in the launch of its set-top box. Furthermore, it suggests that Amazon has given a deadline of mid-October to submit the apps, which would be a possible release date around the end of October or early-November. Amazon set-top is codenamed as “Cinnamon” and is expected to be known as “FireTube”
