Central Government took Decision on Telangana - 29th State of India

It is official now. The UPA and Congress High Command have unanimously approved the resolution for granting statehood for the region of Telangana. Hyderabad will be the common capital of the two states for a period of 10 years. The governments of the two states will function from Hyderabad during this time. A bill will be introduced in Parliament soon. The Government has announced the setting up of special committees to study and propose formulas for water and power sharing.

The Government has also announced the availability of special packages and funding for backward classes in the Andhra Region. The long delayed Polavaram project has been given the status of a National Project and this will qualify it for special funding. The Govt has also announced that all measures will be taken for the protection of human rights and peace in both regions. It has also appealed for peace and understanding from people of both regions, so that the separation goes ahead amicably.
