Google Allo is Finally Rolling Out In The Play Store

Image
Google said Allo would be available at some point during the summer, and it's getting in right under the wire. The new chat application is now official, and it's starting to pop up in the Play Store for download. Don't fret if it's not showing up for you quite yet; we have the APK ready for download. If you need a refresher on features, Google has a handy promo video (below) and a  landing page  that hits all the high points. Allo is connected to your phone number, and it's designed for phones only (at least right now). All your contacts that use Allo will automatically show up, and those who don't can be invited to download the app. They're probably all the ones you just convinced to start using Hangouts a few months ago. Oh well. The centerpiece of Allo is the Google Assistant, which will be a big part of Android (and Google in general) going forward. It offers (allegedly) useful information and links using contextual information and natura

Apple iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus to launch in India on October 7, price starts at Rs 60,000

Image
You might not have realised it, but Apple iPhones have just become cheaper. The Apple iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus will be available for sale in India on October 7 at a starting price of Rs 60,000 for the 32GB iPhone model. This is significant as the iPhone 6s 16GB had an India launch price of Rs 62,000. Now, you are getting more storage for a lower price. An Apple press note confirmed India will be in the second batch of countries, which will get the newly announced iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. This is also the first time they’ve confirmed the India pricing at the launch event itself. Like with the iPhone SE, Apple has been quick to announce the price, thus putting an end to unnecessary speculation. The importance of India for Apple has been evident for some time, especially since the going has been tough in China. This price should go a long way in helping Apple corner more of the high-end segment in India. Also, helping them is the fact that rival Samsung’s Galaxy Note 7 has be

Google Pixel and Pixel XL will replace Google's 2016 Nexus flagship

Image
Speaking to two independent sources, we now strongly believe that Google's formerly-maybe-Nexus-phones, Marlin and Sailfish, will be marketed as the Pixel and the Pixel XL. We do not have pricing information. At this time, it is unknown to us when Google decided to shift its in-house smartphone brand from Nexus to Pixel or why (though speculation will likely run wild). The Pixel will be the 5" Sailfish device, while Pixel XL will be the 5.5" Marlin. As to our confidence in this information: given that our two sources are independent, and the fact that one in particular has been exceptionally reliable in the past, we feel comfortable saying you can take this to the bank. Coupled with Android Central's breaking story on Tuesday that the phones would not be branded as Nexuses - what else could they even be branded as? Some will say that Marlin and Sailfish's specifications and HTC manufacture don't live up to the "premium" image that the Pix
