Android 7.x Nougat is coming to OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 2

Image
Looking for OnePlus 3 Nougat update, OnePlus 2 Nougat update, OnePlus X Nougat update and OnePlus One Nougat update? Good news as Android 7.0 Nougat may come to OnePlus devices earlier than expected. Geekbench data showing OnePlus One and OnePlus 2 running on the latest Android OS are enough reason to believe that Nougat is bound to roll-out soon for OnePlus devices. OnePlus 3 Nougat update, OnePlus 2 Nougat update, OnePlus X Nougat update and OnePlus One Nougat update is speculated to arrive before 2016 ends.Of course, being the flagship smartphone, the OnePlus 3 Nougat update will certainly be the first one to roll-out. OnePlus smartphones have become new serious threats to both Apple and Samsung's flagship devices. The Chinese mobile company's "flagship killers" have comparable technology and innovation. If earlier speculations are believed, the OnePlus 2 Nougat update will arrive one to two months after the OnePlus 3 Nougat update. On the other hand, the

‘Night mode’ (eye strain reduction) could make a return on Nexus devices

Image
Nexus 6P users who were miffed to find Night Mode removed when they installed the Android 7.1 Nougat OS update might have received an optimistic hint from Google of its eventual return. Night Mode acts as a blue light filter that helps reduce eye strain when looking at your phone late at night, and can be set to turn on automatically at sundown. Once Nexus users realized Night Mode had been removed, some of the more snarky users resorted to reporting the lack of Night Mode in the latest Nougat release as a bug. Curiously, one such report has been closed with its status set to "FutureRelease". Without an official statement or blog post confirming its eventual return, it's still unclear exactly what this report status means. But it could be an encouraging sign that it might eventually make a return to Nexus devices. Night Mode as part of the Nougat OS is currently exclusively available on Pixel and Pixel XL devices, found in the Display settings and referred to as N

Pushbullet Lets You Reply to Allo Messages From PC

Image
The recently launched Google Allo smart messaging app just got an interesting new feature, via the third-party Pushbullet service. It has updated its Android app so that users can see and reply to messages sent to them on their PC as well as on their smartphone. Here’s how to set up this useful feature. First you have to actually download the Android Pushbullet app on your phone. After you sign in to the app, you have to enable the Notification Mirroring in its settings. Finally, you have to install a version of Pushbullet on your PC.  You have the choice of downloading its browser extension or you can get the full Windows desktop app. After that you should be set up to receive any Allo messages sent to your smartphone on your PC as well, and you can reply to those messages directly from the PC as well. Pushbullet says, quite rightly, that this is not a full version of an Allo desktop app on the PC (which is not likely to happen) but it’s better than nothing. Will you be

Nova Launcher Beta Update Brings Nougat-Styled Launcher Shortcuts

Image
The latest beta version of the highly popular Nova Launcher for Android is rolling out in the Google Play Store. Beta testers who also have Android 7.1 Nougat installed are supposed to have support for the operating system’s new app shortcuts feature. We say “supposed to” because, according to Droid Life, the new apps shortcut feature for the Nova Launcher beta does not work on Google’s new Pixel phones, but apparently does work for other phones that have Android 7.1 installed. Keep in mind this is a beta and that means bugs will be found and, hopefully, squashed before the final version is released. The new beta of the Nova Launcher also has a backport of some Android 7.1 launcher shortcuts to Android 5.1 and 6.0. It also allows users to display weather in the Google Search bar.  Finally, this new version brings some unnamed “fixes and optimizations”. Interested in becoming a beta tester? First you’ll need to sign up to to be a tester at this link, then head to the Pla

WhatsApp starts rolling out video calling feature

Image
hatsApp has finally started rolling out the much-awaited video calling feature to its users. However, so far the update is only available for Windows Phone users. The feature, as per multiple reports, comes enabled by default as a part of an update to the v2.16.260 WhatsApp Beta. To make a video call, users simply need to click on the calling button and choose between 'Voice' and 'Video' calling options. The option also allows users to change from front camera to rear camera and mute the call. In addition, users would get notified when they miss a call. To call back, they can tap on the same menu. It has not been mentioned when the particular feature would reach Android or iOS apps. However, given its launch on the Windows Phone, we can assume that it might reach Android and iOS platforms soon.

Lenovo has finally announced that the Moto G4 and G4 Plus smartphones will now start receiving the Android 7.0 Nougat update. Motorola had earlier this month announced that it will start rolling out the Nougat update for devices starting in the fourth quarter of 2016, and that 15 devices will be receiving the update. Motorola had also announced the Android Nougat for its recently launched Moto Z series, but it appears that the update for that might still be in the works. “We are excited to announce a new software update for Moto G4 and Moto G4 Plus by Motorola. This update brings Android 7.0 Nougat to your phone along with other improvements,” Motorola said on its Indian Customer Help page. Some of the new features that Moto G4 and Moto G4 Plus users updating to Android Nougat include a new multitasking feature, improved data saver, improved battery features and more efficient notification controls. How To Use Hangouts On Google Pixel And Pixel XL

Image
The Pixel ships with Android 7.1, Google's latest version of Nougat that includes a number of improvements. But some Pixel owners may find a surprising omission when they load up the Pixel for the first time: a lack of Google Hangouts. Some versions of the Pixel are shipping with Hangouts installed on the device but disabled, as Google tries to push people towards its new chat app, Allo. But if you, like me, are one of the remaining Hangouts diehards, here's how to re-enable it and get back to your old habits. How to enable Hangouts on the Pixel On the home screen, swipe down from the notification shade. Tap on the Settings cog. Scroll down and tap on Apps. Scroll down and tap on Hangouts. Tap Enable. After that, you can head to the Play Store and update the app to the latest version. That's it! Now you can get back to using Hangouts and ignoring Allo, like the good ol' days.

Google wallpapers app launched for all Android phones

Image
Google has just launched its own Wallpapers app, which is basically a spin-off from the wallpaper picker that’s included in the launcher for the company’s new Pixel and Pixel XLsmartphones. The app allows users to pick new wallpapers based on their own stored photos, or ones found on Google Earth, Google+ and more sources. If you pick a favorite category from the app, you can choose to have a new wallpaper image placed on your phone every day. If you own one of the very few phones that has Android 7.0 Nougat installed, the wallpapers app has an extra feature that will allow users to set up one image for the smartphone’s lock screen, and another for the phone’s main home screen. While this is not in any way a revolutionary app from Google, it is nice that the company is allowing all Android phones to share in one of the features that was first thought to be a Pixel exclusive. Google Pixel, Pixel XL launched: Price, specifications, features

Image
The rumor mills can now take a break as Google has finally taken the wraps off its Pixel and Pixel XL smartphones at the ongoing event in San Francisco. With today’s launch, the Nexus lineup is officially dead, and the Pixel lineup is quintessentially Google. Though manufactured by HTC, both smartphones feature the ‘G’ logo and are touted as ‘Made by Google’. The overall design and looks are in line with what has leaked before. Unlike before, both the Pixel and Pixel XL smartphones look and feel the same, and they are only differentiated on the basis of size. With the new Pixel smartphones, Google isn’t involved in the specifications race like the other Android companies. Instead, the company is following Apple’s rulebook by taking control over both the hardware and software part of the Pixel smartphones. But the question is, can it be as successful? Google is now using the new smartphones to show-off what its software and services are capable of. Unlike Nexus, the Pixel sma
